Indian T20 League has many matches in its history where a batsman performed extraordinarily, but his knock went in vain as the team couldn't pull a win. We have summed up batsmen that showed their class but luck was something that was not in their favor in those specific innings.
In this article, you'll read about batsmen who topped the fantasy points system but their team failed to win the match. Rishabh Pant against Hyderabad In 2008, Pant's scintillating 128 allowed Delhi to embed 187 on the scoreboard. A target which was eventually chased down by Hyderabad. Despite Delhi's loss, Pant was marvelous with his bat, completed his 50 in 36 balls and went on to score 128 with a strike rate of 200+. Bhuvaneshwar was one of the most successful bowlers in the 2018 season, and Pant did not care about that fact and completely thrashed him along with other bowlers in the team. MS Dhoni against Bangalore The antepenultimate season of the league saw the best finisher's wrath against Bangalore. Unfortunately, Chennai lost the match but Dhoni's 84 off 48 balls proved why he is called the best finisher. Steyn's wonderful spell combined with Yadav's bowling uprooted Chennai's opening order. Chennai was already down 4 wickets in the powerplay before Dhoni arrived on the crease. He supported his team and took the game to the death overs where he needed 26 runs off the last 6 balls. Virat was still not sure that he would win as Dhoni was on strike, and Dhoni went on a rampage and struck 4, 6, 6, 2, 6 in the first five balls, but missed on the final delivery. Yusuf Pathan against Mumbai Pathan scored a century that is worth remembering. He started slow with just 15 runs off 14 balls and then he shifted his form to the top gear, and scored a 100 in just 37 balls. It was the third season of the league and Pathan was auctioned in Rajasthan and had shown a great form. Mumbai had given Rajasthan a 213-run target which Rajasthan would have chased if Pathan had not suffered a run out. Suresh Raina against Punjab In 2014, Punjab gave Chennai a target of 227 runs which Chennai failed to chase. In the very first over Chennai lost a wicket, and Raina walked into the stadium to play a heroic innings. He scored 87 runs off just 25 deliveries and made it possible for Chennai to win the game. But unfortunately, Chennai could not convert the head start by Raina into a win. Raina got a bit unlucky and got run out, had he not gotten run out, Chennai would have emerged as the winner. These are some of the best knocks in the history of the league. We have some honorable mentions as well. In the inaugural season of the league Dravid struck 75 runs in 36 balls against Rajasthan. Manan Vohra proved he's not just an average Joe after he scored 95 runs off just 50 balls against Rajasthan, but his team lost the match.
