India and West Indies are in headlines as the time is approaching for the much-awaited series. India and the West Indies have had a history of losing and winning against one another.
It has been 24 years since India has lost a test to West Indies in the home country, and a period of 16 years since India has lost a test match to West Indies. India has had the upper hand over the opponent in the West Indies Test matches since the year 2000. 1948-1949 The story began back in the year of 1948-1949 for a five-day match for the first time. All the three matches were played in the metropolitan cities – Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata and the result was that all the three matches were drawn. In the fourth match, held in Chennai, Gomez picked up seven wickets and led the team towards the first-ever victory on the Indian soil. 1958-1959 After their first victory, nothing stopped them from giving excellent performance. The beginning and the finishing test match held in Mumbai and Delhi ended in draws. The rest of the three matches were won by West Indies with a distinctive margin, announcing their victory in the Indian Territory. 1966-1967 It was the third consecutive win by the guest players by a clear margin of 2-0. Despite hosting for the third time, it was no different in 1966 as well. West Indies won two matches against India and third was called out as a draw match. The new series that is about to begin on the 3rd August has created more excitement among the people.
